How Can I Tell That The Silver American Eagles I Purchased On Ebay Are Real ? I Am New To Coin Collecting.?
I have not heard of any silver eagle fakes as of yet. American silver eagles are produced on quality planchets and coining presses. There should be no raised bumps and the fields smooth. Quality should be close to perfect. Make sure the lettering in the legends are well definned and don't buy anything from China. I do a lot of buying at my local dealer for if a fake is found he will make it good. In the end I have has better deals from him than ebay. It is also true that one should read up on what series one wants to collect. I do collect proof silver eagles for they are made for the collector community and they have boxes and papers. No one as of yet can match the drugs no prescription proof quality of a U.S. mint, except maybe other top world mints like in the UK,Germany and France. get to know the sellers and stay with the ones you trust. The coin should also weigh 31.101 grams.
I noticed on eBay that the PF69 (even the first strikes) are only selling for $799 - $819 each right now - Does anyone know what my best bet is, to sell them at a loss now & reinvest the money or hold them? Also, how long should I hold the coins? Any idea how long until these coins might shoot
