Speaking as a non-scientist and pseudo-librarian, I’m guessing that getting academic libraries to subscribe to/pay for a formalized version of gray literature, basically a forum, is going to be a very tough sell.

Go to different college websites and look up the major/program you are interested and see what the courses they are offering. Even if the college has a reputation for being a "party school" or is too expensive: you should look at the courses and see what interests you the most because every college is different. Don't be sceptical of college. It's not what you think it is until you experience it. Good luck.

While rumor and reputation are generally external to a person, integrity has both internal and external components or aspects. Integrity is defined as consistency of actions, values, methods, measures and principles. These are internal attributes of a person which manifest themselves and are used in creating a person's external repuatation to others.

It may be a good idea for a person to address whatever is causing the paranoia/nervousness first.
It could be internal or external…if it's internal the person should talk to their doctor who can make suggestions about dealing with the issues making them feel this way. If it's external, perhaps the person should consider changing jobs. They should keep doing what they can do well at work until they can get another job, or go out on their own (entrepreneur).
