Rink Rage
When the Delhi Legion peewees travelled down the highway to play the Port Dover Pirates back on Feb. 25, there was a fair bit on the line for both teams. The series winners would advance to the semifinals of the Ontario Minor Hockey Association's AE Peewee playoffs. And local bragging rights were at stake -- there is a long-standing rivalry between teams from Delhi, a town of 3,900 that claims to be the heart of Ontario's tobacco belt, and Port Dover, 26 km to the southwest on Lake Erie, which boasts it's the world's largest freshwater fishing port. So about 200 parents and fans crowded into the arena in Port Dover and arranged themselves in the stands according to their community affiliation.
It was typical of peewee games at that level -- 12- and 13-year-olds a notch above house league -- enthusiastic if not always polished. Early on, the Pirates won most of the battles along the boards, and took the lead as well. The action got progressively rougher. Several Delhi supporters began hollering at the two referees to crack down on what they saw as the Pirates' overly aggressive body checking, and in fact, Port Dover incurred most of the penalties.
That didn't satisfy some Delhi supporters. With five minutes left, when a Delhi player was penalized for hitting from behind, both of Delhi's coaches strenuously argued the call and were ejected. That provoked a couple of hotheaded fans, who hurled coins and a plastic water bottle onto the ice. Finally, with one minute and 38 seconds to go and Port Dover up 2-0, one particularly loud Delhi fan tossed a broom onto the ice. That was it for the officials. They halted play and, unable to identify exactly who the main offenders were, simply ejected all 200 spectators. The local provincial police detachment sent officers to protect the referees as they left the arena.
On the ice, the players were stunned by what they heard and saw coming out of the stands. "You don't pay attention to that stuff usually, but a couple of people in the stands were getting real mad at the refs," says Pirate defenceman Colton Organ, 13. When the broom hit the ice, Organ says, "we all just kind of looked at each other and shook our heads." The majority of fans did the same. It was, as one of the more composed Delhi parents said afterwards, "embarrassing."
No kidding. It was just a peewee hockey game, for crying out loud. It was supposed to be fun, yet it deteriorated into yet another recent example of out-of-control adults ruining their own kids' games. The bad behaviour is so common in hockey that it even has its own name -- rink rage. In recent months, some B.C. referees cheap drugs no prescription boycotted youth games to protest abuse from fans. A coach in Quebec was hospitalized after being attacked between periods by the father of one of his players. In Ontario, a coach was charged with threatening to kill a teenage referee. Last week in Winnipeg, a police constable -- already suspended from the force for a previous assault conviction -- was arrested and charged with threatening another parent during his nine-year-old son's hockey game. And the worst news is that rink rage isn't confined to the rink. Similarly ill-tempered adults can be found spoiling kids' enjoyment of youth soccer, basketball, baseball and football games, among others.
The offenders are few -- the vast majority of parents are supportive of their kids without being disrespectful of coaches, referees or other fans. And extreme behaviour is rare. There are tens of thousands of kids' games played every year in a variety of sports, and referees and sports associations contacted by Maclean's estimate that they are forced to eject spectators perhaps one per cent of the time. "Most of us just come out to support our kids," Delhi fan David Edmonds said about the incident in Port Dover. "It's too bad, really, because it's just a couple of people making the rest of us look bad."
While their shrill heckling may not always be profane or abusive enough to cause ejection, it poisons the atmosphere and drives volunteer coaches and low-paid referees out of the game. The Canadian Hockey Association says harassment is a major cause of attrition among referees, about 30 per cent of whom quit every season. In soccer, it's just about as bad: Manitoba soccer officials say that two-thirds of new referees recruited and trained in the province leave by the end of their first year.
Not that there weren't leather-lunged louts in the good old days. But experts say hostile behaviour at youth games is far more pervasive -- and sometimes violent -- than it was a generation ago. Consider what happened last summer at a children's recreational hockey practice in Reading, Mass., north of Boston. One player's father was so abusive to the man supervising a pick-up game that the arena staff asked the father to leave the building. But the man, 42-year-old Thomas Junta, came back to confront the volunteer supervisor, 40-year-old Michael Costin. The hulking Junta, six-f

Ok I was watching this show on the history channel Pawn Stars and it got me thinking about these coins i kept in a plastic bag under my bed that i thought were cool when i was a kid. Turns out most of them were from places like Roller Kingdom and Lazer Zone so they're not worth much (haha) but there are a couple that i think might be worth something....

1st off (and the biggest coin) is a bronze coin (as according to an incription on the side) that is 2 3/4 inches in diameter (6.985 cm) and 5 mm in width (0.19685 in). on the side there is an inscription "MEDALLIC ART CO.NY. BRONZE".
One side has "DETROIT'S 250TH BIRTHDAY FESTIVAL" written along the top and "1951" written underneath that and along the bottom it has "PAST" "PRESENT" and "FUTURE" each word seperated by a dot. It had a picture of detroit along the sea. It has "CIVIC CENTER" written on scroll paper along the coast and a long sort of boat in the water. On a cloud that obscures part of teh city-scape has "OLD FORT PONTCHARTRAIN 1701" written on it and a picture of what seems to be a sort of small town surrounded by walls and forest off to the side.
On the other side has "ANTIONE DE LAMOTHE CADILLAC FOUNDER OF DETROIT" written along the top and "250TH ANNIVERSARY 1951" written along the bottom. It has a picture of a boat with 8 visible people and a flag aboard. There are two rather extravagently dressed one monk or preist of some sort (he's dressed in a robe, his hands are crossed and he's holding a cross in his hand) Then there are five visible (but six presumed) rowers. The flag has one symbol scattered on it 17 times (visibly - the flag is partly obscured by the men's hats). It's a long sort of rowing boat with a large curved front and back. They appear to be landing on a shore where three american indians one of whom seems to be holding something (a bow & arrow?) The shoreline behind them (the one they are leaving perhaps?) is apparently pine trees and mountains. On this side there is also the name Rene (possibly Pene, not entirely sure) P. Chambellan (the maker?).
I'm not sure of the weight, and I'm REALLY bad as estimating that type no prescription drugs of thing, but it's relitively heavy.
How much is it worth? do you know?

I also have another coin that SEEMS to be bronze (it looks bronze to me but there's nothing verifying the material) 1.5 inches (3.81 cm) and 2 mm in width.
On one side it has "COLORADO" written on the top and "CENTENNIAL STATE" on the bottom and six stars between the top and bottom (three on each side). Then inside a smaller circle there are four pine trees surrounded by some sort of vine.
On the other side there's just a picture of a mouse surrounded by pine trees and a mountain with "MOOSE" written on the top.
No idea what it is or how much it's worth

Then a silver-ish one (still no way to tell the material) 1.5 inches (3.81 cm) in diameter and 2 mm in width.
on one side it has "7th NATIONAL JAMBOREE FARRAGUT STATE PARK IDAHO JULY 16 to 22, 1969 BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA" written on it and a picture of idaho.
and on the other side of the coin a picture of a deer (with mountains in the background and three trees) with "1969 NATIONAL JABOREE IDAHO" written on it.
I know what this one is but how much is it worth?

and I've got a US penny from 1956. But it's different than today's penny. On the side with Lincoln is the same as today but on the other side it has "ONE CENT" written on it with two feather's on the side of it. Is that just how pennies were made in the 50's or is this one special.

I've also got two 2 dollar bills. Are those worth anything?

My assignment is the following:

Write a program that will take as input the selling price of some item. Determine the amount of change to return based on what the user pays. The user will pay in US coins and bills, no bills larger than $20, and all standard coins (penny, nickle, dime and quarter). Calculate the minimum number of bills (20, 10, 5 and 1) and the minimum number of coins to return as the change.

As a hint, note that if the change is $7.56, the change is

0 20's
0 10's
1 5's
2 1's
2 quarters
0 dimes
1 nickle
1 penny

If you took $7.56 and treated it as 756 cents, then you can use integer division and remainder to calculate the results

does anybody have any idea how i can do the code for this????????????????????

Riddle time alcohol fun?

A man walks into a bar in, sets down two identical US bills on the counter, and makes an order. He asks for one rum, two margaritas, one vodka, two Pepsis, one lemonade, and three waters.

The bartender, who always gives change back in the minimum number of coins and bills possible, gives him two bills and one coin in change, then goes to prepare his drinks.

The man realizes that if he had paid the bartender with only one of any larger bill, he would not have received the same change. When the bartender returns, the man takes his drinks and leaves the bar.

The man returns home and decides to challenge his wife. He tells her what he ordered, how much it cost, and how much change he received. Then he gives her the following seven clues:

1. For every one of a specific drink bought, a customer can buy another of the same drink for half price. (When necessary, the tab is rounded up to the nearest penny after all drinks have been ordered.)
2. If a customer buys five vodkas or one of any other drink, the bartender does not have to give any coins with the change
3. If he had bought one lemonade, one margarita, or one lemonade and two margaritas with the amount he paid for his order, the bartender would have given him back no fewer than six bills
4. If he had added a second rum to his order, the total number of bills plus the total number of coins the bartender would have given him back would be no fewer than six
5. The second of any alcoholic drink never costs less than any non-alcoholic drink
6. No drink costs more than the first margarita
7. Three waters cost less than the first of any other drink

Finally, he asks his wife how much each drink cost him.

“Not only do I have an answer for you,” she tells him after working through his challenge, “but you gave me extraneous information.”

How much does each drink cost, and which clue does the wife not need to determine order prescription drugs online the cost of each drink?

Assume that margaritas, vodkas, and rums are the only alcoholic drinks; $1, $5, $10, $20, $50, and $100 bills are the only US bills; and 1, 5, 10, and 25 cent coins are the only US coins.
The Answer: that's up to you

What is this coin worth?

It is a silver coin, larger than a US 50 cent piece. It has one dollar written on the head side, and has picture of a woman with a trident and a shield with an outline of the british union jack flag on it. There is a ship in the background. On the tails side there is some arabic writing, as well as some asian characters.
It also has a date of 1925
I was wondering what the coin was too if anyone knows

The latest Kennedy half dollar coin I ever saw was dated 1997.

Kennedy half dollars can be obtained at the bank but you have to ask for them.

Why aren't half dollar coins used in general circulation? A lot of people would prefer to get one large half dollar coin in change rather than two quarters.

I just like the feel of holding onto a large coin myself. An Eisenhower silver dollar is overdoing it a bit but I just like the heft of a fifty cent piece.
